Committee sends an inquiry to “WB TAXI” LLC regarding the protection of consumer rights in taxi services
Recently, the Competition Promotion and Consumer Protection Committee has observed a growing number of consumer complaints in appeals submitted to the Committee and on social media regarding the provision of taxi services.
In particular, during January–August 2026, around 20 complaints were received in connection with the activities of “WB TAXI”. Consumers reported such issues as taxis failing to arrive at the designated location when the service was used, the inability to re-establish contact with drivers, and the operator failing to take any action in such situations.
The review found that the service provider had not sufficiently complied with a number of requirements established by the laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Consumer Protection” and “On Electronic Commerce”, as well as the Regulation “On the Procedure for Recognizing the Dominant Position and Superior Bargaining Power of a Digital Platform Operator and Identifying Actions Leading to the Restriction of Competition and/or the Infringement of the Rights and Legitimate Interests of Consumers and Other Business Entities”, approved by Resolution No. 256 of the Cabinet of Ministers dated 1 May 2024.
The Competition Promotion and Consumer Protection Committee has taken these complaints under review and sent an inquiry to “WB TAXI” LLC requesting measures to ensure compliance with legislative requirements and to provide passengers with the ability to re-establish contact with the service provider and obtain relevant information.
