From 1 to 3 June this year, employees of the Competition Committee’s central office and regional departments participated in a training seminar organized by a delegation led by Alexey Ivanov, Director of the BRICS International Competition Law and Policy Centre on the topic “Antitrust Regulation of Digital Platforms: International Practices, Trends, and Recommendations for the Republic of Uzbekistan”.
The seminar featured BRICS Centre experts Darya Kotova and Kirill Entin, who delivered presentations on international models for regulating digital markets, methodologies for defining market boundaries in the digital economy, the extraterritorial application of competition law, and the assessment of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) in digital markets.
During the event, participants explored modern approaches to regulating digital platform activities, mechanisms for fostering effective competition in digital markets, and advanced international practices in this field.
In addition, practical issues were discussed through case-study seminars based on hypothetical scenarios involving digital markets, and participants exchanged views on approaches that could be applied in the context of Uzbekistan. The training seminar contributed to further strengthening the knowledge and practical skills of the Committee’s staff in regulating competition-related relations arising within the digital economy.
