An international seminar on “Futures Trading and Regulation of Commodity Markets”, jointly organized by the Competition Committee, the Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) of the U.S. Department of Commerce, and the Republican Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange, is currently taking place at the Hilton Tashkent City hotel in Tashkent.
The seminar was opened by Deputy Chairman of the Competition Committee, U. Davlatov. In his opening remarks, he emphasized the growing importance of ensuring the efficient functioning of commodity and financial markets, enhancing transparency and openness in exchange trading, developing modern market infrastructure, and introducing advanced international practices for regulating commodity futures markets.
The event brings together the leadership of the Competition Committee, CLDP International Advisor Aleena Nasir, International Programs Specialist Alexa Black, international commodity futures market expert Kevin Piccoli, as well as industry professionals and experts.
Discussions during the seminar focus on the operational mechanisms of commodity futures markets, exchange trading, settlement and clearing systems, AML/KYC requirements, market surveillance, risk management, and the role and responsibilities of regulators, drawing on international best practices and experience.
