From July 7 to 11, 2025, the 9th Annual Conference organized by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) is taking place in Geneva, Switzerland. The event is dedicated to a comprehensive review of the Multilateral Set of Equitable Principles and Rules for the Control of Restrictive Business Practices.
The delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, headed by the Chairman of the Competition Promotion and Consumer Protection Committee, Mr. Khalilillo Turakhujaev, is participating in this international event.
The conference brings together competition authorities from more than 190 countries, as well as representatives of international organizations, academia, and civil society.
The event is chaired by Ms. Teresa Moreira, Director of the Competition and Consumer Policies Branch of UNCTAD.
The current conference agenda includes the following key topics:
🔘 the role of competition in promoting economic growth,
🔘 adaptation of competition authorities to technological change,
🔘 strengthening international cooperation in the context of global challenges.
At the meetings of the first day the Committee’s delegation took part in a number of events, including the meeting of the Working Group on Consumer Protection in E-Commerce and the report session, as well as sessions on the implementation of the United Nations principles for the control of anti-competitive practices.
The participation of the Uzbek delegation in this international conference is of great significance for presenting to the global community the reforms carried out in recent years in Uzbekistan in the areas of competition development, consumer protection, and regulation of digital markets and platforms.
