On October 10, 2024, a delegation of the Competition Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, headed by the Chairman Khalilillo Turakhujaev, visited the city of Bonn (Federal Republic of Germany).
Morning Session
During the visit, the delegation held a meeting with Ms. Nicole Brand, Deputy Managing Director of German Sparkassenstiftung (Sparkassenstiftung für Internationale Kooperation) and Federal Financial Supervisory Authority of Germany. The discussions focused on expanding joint projects in the areas of consumer protection and enhancing competition policy in financial markets. Particular emphasis was placed on improving conditions for consumers in financial markets and increasing the transparency of regulatory mechanisms in this field.
Afternoon Session
In the afternoon, the delegation met with Andreas Mundt, President of the German Federal Cartel Office. During the meeting, Mr. Mundt acquainted the delegation with the activities of the Federal Cartel Office, sharing experiences in detecting cartels and controlling cross-border economic concentration agreements. The discussions also covered the prospects of deepening cooperation between the two countries’ institutions within the framework of the International Competition Network.
Special attention was paid to improving mechanisms for monitoring competition violations and programs aimed at enhancing the qualifications of the staff of the Uzbek Competition Committee. The delegation also studied Germany’s experience in preventing anti-competitive actions in international markets.
Additionally, Mr. Mundt gave the delegation a tour of the historic building of the Federal Cartel Office. Built in 1898, the building is known for its architectural significance and is an important part of Bonn’s cultural heritage, the former capital of Germany.
