Competition Promotion and Consumer Protection Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan is proud to announce that it will host International Conference on Competition law enforcement and consumer protection in digital markets in Tashkent on 6 – 8 July 2023.
As you are aware Uzbekistan is one of the most dynamically growing emerging economies not only in Central Asia region, but in global cohort too, and since last 6 years has achieved significant progress in structural reforms, including strong pro-competitive agenda. And the importance of digital economy as an essential driver is raising with high pace in Uzbekistan as in all over the world, and challenges regarding developing effective regulation of digital markets towards ensuring true competition and consumer rights protection have critical importance.
Digitalization has brought significant changes to most sectors of the economy.
Conference will provide expert insights into the challenges posed by the digital economy in the sectors and will focus on recent regulatory initiatives enacted or proposed across jurisdictions internationally and will present recent competition and consumer protection enforcement approaches which could shed light on the main theories of harm and remedies developed under traditional competition and consumer protection law provisions in order to address rising concerns.
The discussions will address the growing demands placed on competition law by policymakers, as well as the interplay between competition law, consumer protection and data protection, which play an important role in assessing digital markets under competition law.
This conference will be open to representatives of competition authorities, independent experts, professionals from industry, academia, consulting and law firms.
Moreover, upcoming event will be an excellent opportunity to touch ancient and rich historical and cultural heritage of Samarkand, one of the oldest cities of the world and to feel warm hospitality and colorful traditions of Uzbek people. We feel optimistic and are looking forward to seeing you personally in a conference as well as your valuable contributions and stimulating discussions.
See you in Tashkent!

The measures will be adjusted to the legal requirements applicable at the time of the conference:
COVID-19 Health and Safety Protocol
Your health is our top priority. We would therefore like to ask you to observe the following rules to protect your health and safety and prevent the spread of COVID-19. Thank you for your cooperation.
As of April 2022, conferences in Berlin will no longer be subject to any restrictive measures. However, the Bundeskartellamt’s organisation team will be tested daily. The conference hotel’s staff will also be tested – at least once a week.
If you have experienced any COVID-19 symptoms (regardless of your vaccination status) in the past 48 hours, please do not attend the conference and follow the event online via the livestream. No registration is required for the livestream.
For safety reasons, we kindly ask all guests to test themselves regularly for COVID-19 using rapid antigen tests. If needed, tests will be provided by the Bundeskartellamt. The testing centre in the neighbouring InterCity hotel also offers both rapid antigen tests and PCR tests (fee-based).
The wearing of masks will be optional at the conference. The Bundeskartellamt will ensure that FFP2 masks are available for those attendees who did not bring their own masks.
Conference rooms and common areas will be cleaned and disinfected at the end of every conference day. All surfaces that are frequently touched will be disinfected before the event starts as well as repeatedly throughout the day (in particular, door handles, stair rails, lift buttons and handrails, table surfaces, etc.). For the entire duration of the conference, clearly visible disinfectant dispensers will be available at all entrances and exits of the venue and at neuralgic points like the buffet.
Adequate ventilation will be ensured. Where possible, the conference hotel will be divided into separate areas to avoid overcrowding. In particular, there will be different registration areas for each conference and sufficient space for queues in the lobby of the conference hotel. Every attendee will be issued a personalised barcode to make the registration process as contactless and fast as possible.
