On 1 December 2025, the Global Forum on Competition, organized by the Secretariat of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), commenced its work in Paris, France. The opening ceremony was attended by the delegation of the Competition Promotion and Consumer Protection Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The Forum is one of the OECD’s key initiatives aimed at advancing competition policy, enhancing information and experience sharing among national competition authorities, and promoting the adoption of international best practices.
During the event, the Committee’s delegation held several meetings with foreign competition authorities and international experts. In particular, discussions were conducted with representatives of the Malaysia Competition Commission, the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), as well as with Professor William Evan Kovacic, Director of the UK Competition Law Center and a leading global expert in competition law and policy.
As a result of the meetings, the parties reached agreements on signing a memorandum of cooperation, arranging internships for the Committee’s staff at the CMA, and engaging CMA specialists in the Committee’s activities. Furthermore, the parties confirmed their intention to organize seminars, training programs, and roundtable discussions for the Committee’s staff within the framework of the World Bank’s Institutional Capacity Building Project.
