On May 14th 2024, the Competition Promotion and Consumer Protection Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan teamed up with the International Development Institute (IDI) at Chungbuk National University for a strategic meeting. The main aim of this gathering was to refine Uzbekistan’s consumer protection policies and enhance product quality.
During the session, key discussions revolved around advancing stages of the “Establishment of innovative product quality management in Uzbekistan” project. Notable presentations were delivered by A.Qayumov, Deputy Chairman of the Competition Committee, and A-Suk Jeong, Vice Director, Institute for International Development, Chungbuk University
Feedback and suggestions from the event participants were actively solicited, leading to the adoption of measures for the project’s collaborative execution.
For context, the International Development Institute (IDI) at Jeonbuk National University, which specializes in socio-economic policy, was established in May 2019. By August 2019, it was designated as one of the government-funded research institutes by Korea’s Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation.
From May 21 to June 3, 2023, Committee officials participated in a training course on “Competition Law and Market Economy Development” held in South Korea. This course was organized by Jeonbuk National University and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). In conjunction with this training, the Agency officials developed the framework for the “Establishment of innovative product quality management in Uzbekistan” project, which is anticipated to be implemented in partnership with KOICA and the Committee.
