The Surkhandarya Regional Department of the Competition Promotion and Consumer Protection Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, in cooperation with the Transport Control Inspectorate, conducted an inspection of the activities of “Termiztransportxizmat” LLC based on a citizen’s complaint.
During the inspection, it was revealed that in the city of Termez, passengers of urban public transport (buses) were being charged an additional 1,000 soums for the fare.
Specifically, instead of the officially approved fare of 2,000 soums per passenger for urban public transport (buses) in Termez, “Termiztransportxizmat” LLC charged 3,000 soums.
According to the calculations carried out, between May 1 and May 19 of the current year, the company served more than 364,560 passengers and received a total of 364.56 million soums in excess income as a result of overcharging fares.
In light of the above, the Special Commission of the Regional Department initiated a case against “Termiztransportxizmat” LLC in accordance with the established procedure and issued an instruction to recalculate the excessively collected funds.
