On October 11, 2024, as part of their visit, the delegation of the Competition Committee met with the Secretary-General of the German Monopolies Commission, Mark Batal.
During the meeting, the parties discussed mechanisms and practical experience of Germany in regulating natural monopolies.
They also reviewed the mechanisms used to analyze and address systemic problems in various sectors of the German economy to promote competition.
Additionally, the delegation met with the leadership of the Federal Network Agency of Germany (Bundesnetzagentur), which oversees and regulates key infrastructure sectors.
During the meeting, the Committee delegation studied Germany’s practices for promoting competition in sectors such as electricity, gas, telecommunications, postal services, and rail transport by ensuring fair access to networks.
