In total, as of November 1, 2020, the Antimonopoly Committee and its territorial departments received 121 applications for the preliminary approval of agreements on mergers and acquisitions of economic entities and the acquisition of shares in the authorized capital (capital) of economic entities. Of these, 28 relate to mergers and acquisitions of economic entities, and 93 – to applications for the acquisition of shares in the authorized capital (capital). Twenty-five of these calls are for foreign investors.
At the same time, in respect of 3 economic entities, an order was issued to initiate proceedings for violation of the requirements of the Law “On Competition”, in terms of making a transaction without obtaining the prior consent of the antimonopoly authority to acquire a share in the authorized capital of an economic entity.
From January to October this year, all applications were carefully analyzed. The committee approved transactions for 2 billion 403 million soums, 50% of the amount, which is 1 billion 199 million soums, accounted for by foreign investors.
It is expected that foreign investors will invest mainly in the textile, pharmaceutical, information, electrical, construction, food and other industries in the form of direct investments and modern technologies.
