As part of the international conference, Panel II titled \u201cCurrent challenges and practical mechanisms for ensuring competition in strategic markets and sectors of the economy\u201d<\/b> was held under the moderation of Mirshohid Aslanov<\/b>, Director of the Center for Progressive Reforms.<\/p>\n

The panel featured presentations by the following speakers:<\/p>\n

\n⏺️Gulnora Rakhimova <\/b>\u2014 Deputy Minister of Economy and finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan;
\n⏺️Emma Aslanova<\/b> \u2014 Member of the Committee on Entrepreneurship, Competition Development and Industry of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan;
\n⏺️Renato Ferrandi<\/b> \u2014 \u00a0Director for International and European Affairs, Italian Competition Authority;
\n⏺️Asadulla Qayumov<\/b> \u2014 \u00a0Chairman of the Management Board, Uzbekistan Commodity Exchange (UZEX);
\n⏺️Kamronbek Mukhammadiev<\/b> \u2014 \u00a0Head of Department for E-Commerce Development and Regulation of National Agency for Prospective Projects of the Republic of Uzbekistan;
\n⏺️Doniyor Abduazizov<\/b> \u2014 Head (Dean) of Department of Double Degree Programs, <\/b>Tashkent State University of Law;
\n⏺️William Kovacic<\/b> \u2014 \u00a0Professor of Global Competition Law and Policy, George Washington University (USA), Director of the Competition Law Center (online).<\/p>\n

Discussions focused on promoting competition in the energy, utilities, pharmaceutical, healthcare, transport and logistics, digital platforms, and telecommunications sectors. Participants also exchanged international experience on addressing price increases, combating cartels, monitoring economic concentration, and expanding market access opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises.<\/p>\n

At the conclusion of the conference,<\/b> participants emphasized the critical role of competition policy in ensuring economic stability amid global uncertainty. They identified priority areas for further improvement, including strengthening market monitoring and forecasting systems, combating anti-competitive practices, enhancing regulation of digital markets, and integrating international best practices into national policymaking.<\/p>\n
