On October 22, 2024, Tashkent hosted a conference on “Fostering sustainable investments and entrepreneurial support to enhance population welfare”<\/strong> with 15 international companies and nearly 80 Uzbek organizations in attendance.<\/p>\n

One of the key speakers Farrukh Karabaev, Deputy Chairman of Competition Committee,<\/strong> who detailed country’s ongoing economic reforms aimed at promoting competition and reducing the state\u2019s role in the economy. He highlighted the introduction of the “yellow pages rule,”<\/strong> which limits state-owned enterprises in competitive sectors.<\/p>\n

Speakers also included
\nElena Son, Executive Director of the American-Uzbek Chamber of Commerce, emphasized opportunities for American companies.
\nDeputy Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade Akram Aliyev highlighted GDP growth from $60 billion to $90 billion, inflation reduction from 15% to 8%, and poverty reduction from 17% to 11% between 2017-2023.
\nLia Grauberger from the German Sparakssenstiftung for International Cooperation highlighted the importance of fostering entrepreneurship.
\nDaria Kim of the Max Planck Institute of Competition and Innovation and Shandor Reti, Chairman of Ipoteka Bank’s Supervisory Board also shared their successful experiences.<\/p>\n

Participants at the conference also engaged in discussions about future collaboration plans and acquired deeper insights into the investment prospects available in Uzbekistan.<\/p>\n
